Sherrie Keele

Employee of the Month - February 2024

If you want to meet one of the nicest people on the planet, then you should go to this person’s office. She is always, and I really mean always, happy and positive. She has one of the most stressful jobs in the health department, but you would never know it by how she acts. She handles all calls, from either staff or clients, in the nicest, friendliest way possible. The immunizations clinic is happy to nominate Sherrie Keele, one of the nursing division billing specialists, as employee of the quarter. Sherrie has worked for the health department for close to eight years. She started in Baby Your Baby and worked there for a couple of years. She then made the switch to the billing specialist position and has been in that role for the last four and a half years. Lucky us!!!! Sherrie is one of those people with lots of energy and can’t sit still. Sherrie is married to Sam and they have seven kids; 4 boys and 3 girls. She enjoys many activities such as jumping out of airplanes and sneaking onto the set of a Hallmark movie. She also loves sports. Sherrie played sports throughout high school and played softball and volleyball in college. Hang gliding is next on her bucket list, along with anything else that most of us would not even consider!! Sherrie gets everyone’s day off to a great start by leading a quick group sing-along of Good Morning (from the movie Singing in the Rain). So fun ! This position requires her attention to detail on every task. She reviews every claim for correctness before it goes to the insurance companies and any denials are resolved promptly so claims don’t go past the timely filing deadline. Sherrie makes paying your bill fun and pleasant. Not many people can say that. She has a vast knowledge of insurance companies and what they will cover. When people call after getting a statement she politely and kindly answers their questions regarding the charges their insurance did not cover and assists them with making payments. Many people that call do not understand their insurance benefit regarding immunizations, and she gives them all the help she can, so they don’t have to pay more out of pocket than necessary. She also assists representatives from insurance companies that call needing additional information or codes to resolve their member’s claims. She receives many calls each day from the staff in the 3 immunizations clinics. She knows each of them personally, greets each one cheerfully as if it was a call from a dear friend. She is happy to look up a patient’s insurance or their account to clear up the questions the staff has. All these calls interrupt working on her daily tasks, but she handles each one professionally, with patience and knowledge and kindness. Sherrie is the best co-worker. She definitely deserves to be Employee of the Month. She is dependable, cheerful, and smart – every office needs a Sherrie!!!
