Kris Kokol
Employee of the Month - March 2022

We the staff of the Children's Justice Center would like to nominate our co-worker, Kris Kokol, for Utah County Employee of the Month. Kris' tenure began at the CJC in 2007 as a MSW intern. Kris was a dedicated worker from day one. She instantly became one of those interns you remember, and not in a bad way. Kris showed up early, worked hard all day, stayed well past closing time and never was there a word of complaint. She was eager to learn and inspired to help serve child victims of abuse in our community. She took on projects that could have used 3-4 people to help but managed them all by herself. Luckily for us, Kris rejoined the Center after graduation (over 10 years ago) and is now the Clinical Supervisor. She provides services to parents/guardians who bring their children to be interviewed at the Children's Justice Center. She sits with parents during some of their darkest moments and helps get them on the road to healing. In addition to managing multiple cases a day, Kris supervises an incredible team of individuals. Their words really capture what a huge impact Kris has not only on our staff, but the people that we serve. One team member said, "Kris gives great support as a supervisor. She is aware of our needs and makes a strong effort to maintain unity, teamwork, and work ethic." Another shared, "Kris is always supportive and helpful. She never makes me feel bad for doing things wrong. She understands work/life balance and helps me keep that in mind." "I appreciate Kris' authenticity in everything she says and does. I love that Kris speaks from the heart, especially when she is supporting her colleagues and team members. Kris understands that being a good leader does not mean having all the answers or telling others what to do, it means creating a safe and supportive environment where people can be vulnerable and honest. I am grateful for Kris' example and will never tire of hearing her share her thoughts and feelings because they are usually full of wisdom and heart." "Where do I even start?! Kris is the backbone of the Center. Her compassionate heart is critical to not only our staff but especially the caregivers she works with day in and day out. She can quickly connect with people and comfortably sit with them during their darkest moments. Her easy-going nature makes her a fun person to collaborate with on projects and tasks. She has a wicked sense of humor and knows how to quickly diffuse contentious situations. There is a reason our staff is continually seeking her throughout the day; she provides astute insight, intelligent quips, validation, and most importantly killer therapeutic interventions! Kris is the quiet, behind the scenes worker whose shy nature brings balance to not only her team, but the Center as a whole. She is an indispensable part of our team!" "Since I have met Kris, she is always in a fun great mood, she is super funny and very nice! She is a great person to have around the office for sure!" Kris provides unmatched service and is worthy of recognition for all she does.
